NGORONGORO CRATER One of nature’s true wonders and a photographer’s paradise! Ngorongoro is the largest intact crater in the world, covering 265 square kilometers. From the rim to the crater floor is 600 meters. The Crater is home to an abundance of wild game including elephants, rhinos, cheetahs, lions, leopards, hyenas, serval cats, jackals, bushbacks, elands, waterbucks, and wildebeest, many antelope, and large variety of birds. This is a sight that you will always remember. Overnight in the crater is not permitted but there are lodge and camping options on the crater rim including some incredible luxury options. Nights and early mornings can get quite chilly so bringing warm clothing (jacket, knit cap, etc.) is recommended highly. Game viewing is best November through April but any time of year is worthwhile. Because of it's location a trip to Ngorongoro can be easily combined with Kilimanjaro or Mt Meru climbs, Maasai or Hadzabe visits, Lake Manyara, Tarangire, Serengeti, Arusha National Park, Olduvai trips. |
